Segovia's Cocktail Bar & Lounge
About This Spot
Stepping into Segovia's Cocktail Bar & Lounge is like finding a quietly cherished secret nestled on Lighthouse Avenue. This isn’t the kind of place where time rushes by—here, the pace slows enough for conversations to settle comfortably into the warm glow of a softly flickering fireplace built into the wall. It’s a cozy, unpretentious refuge where the character of a storied past meets the casual ease of familiar neighbors gathering after a long day.
The atmosphere feels inviting without effort, a blend of vintage charm and gently refreshed spaces that carry whispers of the Segovia family legacy. The bar’s soft hum includes familiar chatter, the occasional friendly challenge at the dartboard, and the curated soundtrack that locals can pick for the night. It’s a space where the ritual of ordering a drink turns into a shared moment of connection, whether you’re cradling a boldly balanced Fernet or watching the deep red curl of a vodka cranberry being stirred with care.
Behind the bar, there’s a sense of pride in preserving more than just recipes and cocktails—it’s about welcoming guests into a place where stories linger in the wood and where bartenders embody warmth and attentiveness. This intimate setting encourages genuine conversations, both with the bartenders and the regulars who gather as if in an old living room made just for them.
Segovia’s isn’t about flashy trends or loud crowds. Instead, it’s a quietly joyful discovery for those who appreciate a cocktail bar that honors its roots and offers a place to slow down, unwind, and simply be—a true neighborhood bar with depth, personality, and a distinct sense of home.

Segovia's Bar in Monterey is a hidden gem! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. The drinks were on point—perfectly crafted and delicious. I highly recommend stopping by for a great atmosphere and exceptional service.

Great little dive bar! Clean with a lot of Character. The bartender was nice and I had a pretty good beer selection. If you can get a seat next to the odd little fireplace in the wall.

My name is Brandon Segovia, proud grandson of longtime owner Larry Segovia and great-grandson of founders Al & Rose Segovia. Reviving this historic bar has been both an honor and a privilege to preserve the character, stories, and traditions that shaped generations before me. After a year devoted to breathing new life into the establishment, the tavern reopened on October 9th, 2025 refreshed yet deeply rooted in its original spirit, carrying forward our family's legacy with pride. My ultimate goal is simple: to ensure everyone who walks through our doors feels the same warmth and belonging that built this place decades ago.

Excellent location for drinks. The seating is comfortable and there's a backdoor for smoking. The juke box allows app controlled music selection and the dartboard is in a good spot. Stop by and chat with the friendly regulars!

This is definitely a dive bar. Not a young crowd and me and my boyfriend felt a bit out of place when walking in and seeing only 3 older men sitting. One was smoking as well. Drinks were cheap and made well. Cool atmosphere and nice fire place.

If you’re visiting Monterey and want to step away from the tourist crowds for a drink, Segovia’s Tavern is exactly where you should go. This place feels like a rite of passage — a classic local bar with real history, friendly faces, and a vibe you just can’t manufacture. Located just minutes from Cannery Row and downtown, Segovia’s offers a refreshing contrast to the more polished hotel bars nearby. The moment you walk in, you get that authentic Monterey feel: relaxed, welcoming, and full of character. It’s the kind of spot where locals actually hang out — which is always a good sign when you’re traveling.
